Italian Sandwich Business?
I am interested in starting my own italian sandwich business. The menu would only consist of hot italian sandwiches such as chicken cutlets and veal cutlets made fresh to order.
My main concern is the cost, example for the food supplies etc. I am quite unsure where to attain suppliers for my meat products. Start up costs such as rent, supplies, equipment are also some concerns that I have little knowledge of.
If anyone in the restaurant business, can give me some insights that would be greatly appreciated. Both positive and negative aspects of this business venture are welcome. Thanks
Well as a former chef and having worked with a number of business that were new and opened 2 in Toronto, your biggest concern first is location, the rent and the capital you have to spend, like buying a house you have to do some leg work, find and area where it would be successful and a high traffic area to, once you have a location, you will need to contact contractors for estimates on the renovations, equipment can be purchased from place there sell reconditioned and used things (first the first while), food suppliers are not big deal, there are 100’s in the city for your products.
Setting up a menu is important for buying and costing the food, like the bread, sauces and other things, meat is going to be the biggest cost, you would need to make a few items and then sit down an figure out the cost to make it including the labour cost, then you can determine the prices with the markup, this should also include overhead and other incedentals.
Be very careful, with the down turn in the economy, make sure your 100% sure of every detail before investing your hard earned money, and take a bath on something you want to succeed.
