Recipe Software
Which recipe software is the best?
I’m trying to decide between BigOven, Master Cook, or Living Cookbook. I have Windows Vista (which I heard is not compatible with a lot of software). I’m looking for software that I can upload recipes from the internet, search by ingredients I have in the closet, create shopping lists, and recipes that I can search by nutrition (calories, fat, protein etc.) What do you like about software that you have and what don’t you like? Overall, what do you think is the best choice?
I’ve used the online websites but I can’t get what I want from just one website. I want something that I can put on my hard drive on my computer without relying on a website.
Master Cook is great. I Love the Complete Suite by Betty Crocker. I used it a lot when I had my personal chef business. Very user friendly. Don’t know about Vista. I still run XP.

Recipe Scanning Software?
recipe organizing/scanning program that scans your recipes then files them automaticly so you can type in a search box to find them! ASAP
best answer
is the best program and it has to have a free trial at least! its for my mom!
so theres no way you could just scan them type in what it is and a program puts it in its folder???
Aint gonna happen. You would need to organize them manually. At best, you could set your scanner to send anything scanned to a folder of your choice but then you would still have to organize them in sub folders. Too many variables for names and recipes for any software to correctly categorize them properly.
EDIT: I seriously doubt it. Organization is simple tho. Scan them to your desktop, create a recipes folder in documents or where ever you choose, put sub folders in for different categories, put sub folders in sub folders inf you like. By scanning them to your desktop, you then either have to look at them or put them in the correct folders. This is how I’ve been doing it for years and works best for me. The nice thing is all you have to do is copy and paste the root folder to move the whole smear or put them on another pc, burn them to cd, whatever you choose. I got sick of losing files and got to be a real organization freak in the last few years.
